Located in the heart of Brooklyn at 3133 Fulton St, El Pulgarcito de America has carved a niche as a beloved Salvadoran restaurant. Patrons rave about their pupusas, which are consistently praised for being rich in flavor and generously stuffed. Daniel Maldonado describes them as the "best authentic Salvadoran food" he’s found in the city, while Josue Granillo reflects on a decade-long loyalty, showcasing the restaurant's enduring appeal.
Beyond pupusas, the menu offers delightful options such as sopa de res, which Robert Nunez highlights as “flavorful and satisfying.” The establishment maintains a clean aesthetic, making it pleasant for diners, as noted by Christian Vasquez-Leon. A small caveat is that they operate on a cash-only basis, which can be inconvenient, but the quality of food makes it worthwhile. Mario Bernabel emphasizes the family-friendly vibe, stating that his family has enjoyed their meals for years, a perfect testament to the restaurant's consistency and tradition.
In summary, El Pulgarcito de America Brooklyn serves a slice of Salvadoran culture, making every meal a heartfelt experience. From the authentic taste of their pupusas to the warm ambiance, it's a must-visit for anyone craving homemade flavors.

Cash only so I couldn’t order everything I wanted (because I didn’t know ahead of time) but the pupusas were great and the aesthetic was orderly. Also the option of spicy vs non-spicy curtido was really good

Hands down one of Brooklyn hidden gems. When it comes to Salvadorian dishes it could be a challenge finding great spot in New York and many people haven’t been expose to it . When you walk in nothing fancy , many locals, almost feels stuck in the 80s but we here for the food . The service is okay pretty fast no much explanation just menu , the servers also taking phone order and counter order’s packing and charging, so can’t blame them. But the food was awesome many popusa option and rice popusa which I never seen before. Tamal de elote my favorite and mix popusa is my favorite. I needed to come back, so I invited some friends from Salvador and they also expressed “ they just like home “. I was still not convince and invited more friends from Salvador they also confirm best popusa in town the closet popusa are located in Long Island. Very satisfied with meals. The last time I visited I happen to run into the originals friends from Salvador at this location they travel from queens to eat so great popusa ! Hope you get to enjoy

Great pupusas and they sell hammocks. You know it’s authentic when they’re selling hammocks.

CASH ONLY. We ordered the rice and bean with chorizo (comes mixed with eggs) and salad plate, along with a pupusa. Server also asked if we wanted cheese and cream. The food was amazing. Really enjoyed the salad (cabbage) that helped balance the oiliness and saltiness of the flavors. We came with only 20 in our pockets. Total came out to be 16.10. Would recommend if youre in the area.
